Choreografic residency program
About

Our program supports your choreographic process!
Hardly anyone can afford the risk of “failure”, especially in the freelance dance scene with short production periods and pressure to premiere. The dance landscape therefore needs the promotion of open-ended processes to support the development of exciting ideas and concepts.
Held for the first time in 2022, the Tanzpunkt Hannover residencies take up this point. Local and international up-and-coming choreographers and dance professionals are given the paid opportunity to spend a week in Hannover trying out new ideas, developing concepts for larger production projects, and networking with local dance professionals.
2024’s residencies focus on supporting dance productions in Hannover and are aimed at local choreographers and collectives with the possibility to invite a guest from abroad and to work interdisciplinary.

unknown.possibilities.
The theme of our residency is called „Intersect“. During our week at Tanzpunkt Hannover, we will embark on a journey to explore the tensions that arise from interpersonal conflicts. We are interested in the moment a conflict begins. How does the conflict feel and how does it manifest in the body? And what can we do to counteract these states of tension?

We are excited to be part of the residency in July, where we can collaborate in an inspiring environment. This is a wonderful opportunity to create a performance and explore new creative possibilities together, enhancing and expanding our upcoming project. We look forward to immersing ourselves in the dance community at Tanzpunkt Hannover. During the workshop, we will learn short materials from parts of our new upcoming production and get to know the other dancers collaborating on the project.

2023
For the second year in a row, we had the privilege of welcoming international and local dance artists to our residencies after receiving over 170 inspiring applications. The international artists Anna Borràs (Spain) and Wojciech Furman (Poland), worked on solo choreographies, while the two locally based artitsts, Lucia Peters and Dagmar Ottmann, collaborated on a duet. All of them shared their ideas in free workshops with the dance community Hannover, creating a wonderful exchange.
As part of TanzSichten, excerpts from the developed choreographies will be presented in December 2023 at LOT-Theater Braunschweig.
2022
Our first residency program was held in 2022. Out of 120 applicants from all over Europe we invited three artists in residence: Brandon Lagaert (Brussels), Diana Wöhrl (Augsburg) and Esther Moreno (Berlin). All three shared their research process in a class for the local professional dance community and one of the three showed their work in progress at our event „tanzMomente“!
